A rhythm is not a schedule. Rhythm is the pattern to your day, a routine based in the habits you create that are consistent and happen in order. By following a rhythm, children come to know what to expect and feel safe and secure in knowing what comes next.
Use mealtimes as anchors in your day, and write down general phases of the day between them. Using color helps associate the activity and time of day, and keeping the chart on display gives the whole family the visual in case you get off track (it happens).
The download comes with an example rhythm, a color option, and a black and white option. Add your own color to the black and white option with colored pencils or crayons! Print multiple and display in areas of the home that are easily glanced at by all family members. As your rhythm changes through the year and as your kids grow, it’s easy to print more and re-create your rhythm with your new needs in mind.
