A Fruit and Veggie Tracker to Encouraging healthy eating
I don’t have the most adventurous little eaters but we try as much as we can to encourage healthy food choices. Lately, what has been working for our girls is to offer them a single bite of any new thing. It’s low pressure and they get to be the food critic, so it makes it a game.
I created a printable to hang in the kitchen for them to slowly work on over time, to see how colorful they can get their pages. If they taste something on the sheet, they get to color it in. Just one bite and it counts! They get a visual of how many things they’ve tried, and can look at it and ponder what they are curious about trying next.
Both girls tried Brussels Sprouts tonight at dinner because it was on the veggie taste test. I never would have guessed they would try them! And one actually liked them!
After they’ve tried as many things on the sheet as they can, I’m going to have them go through and circle all their favorites. This will give them a visual of all the healthy choices they have that they actually love. It helps me see it too!
If you think your kids would be encouraged to try new things in this way, you can find this four-page printable in the shop. The download includes a fruit and a veggie tracker in subtle color (just the text and border is in color) and in black and white.
